Dr. Renée Shankar, DACM, L.Ac, She/Her/Hers
I am a licensed acupuncturist and doctor of East Asian Medicine with a clinical focus on fertility, IVF, and the perinatal period. For the past six years, I’ve had the honor of supporting patients through these deeply transformative chapters of life, including offering postpartum home visits, which I feel is both sacred and essential care.
I also work with patients experiencing chronic or acute pain, as well as mental and emotional stress. East Asian medicine offers thoughtful, effective tools for supporting the nervous system, easing pain, and restoring balance, and this continues to be an area of great clinical interest for me.
My work is rooted in traditional East Asian medicine while also integrating evidence-based practices to support the whole person. I have trained in a Korean style of acupuncture known as Sa’am, as well as in the use of the Eight Extraordinary Channels, which I find especially supportive during times of transition and change. Treatments are always tailored to the individual, guided by careful listening and diagnosis.
In addition to acupuncture, I often incorporate bodywork such as cupping, gua sha, and gentle myofascial release when appropriate. These modalities can bring relief to aches, tension, and pain, and are integrated thoughtfully based on each patient’s needs.
Born and raised in rural Northern California, I now draw daily inspiration from the lush landscape of the Pacific Northwest. I believe healing happens best in relationship both with our environment and other humans through presence, collaboration, and care. I value working alongside other providers so patients feel supported by many hands. The treatment room is a place of calm attention, and I’m honored to walk beside each person on their path toward well-being.
With respect, I acknowledge the original custodians of this land: the Siletz, Cowlitz, and Grand Ronde tribes
