Lauren Chandler has been a proponent of cooking with whole foods since she kitchen hopped around the globe on a Watson Fellowship in 1998. A graduate of the Natural Gourmet Institute for Health & Culinary Arts, she cooked at restaurants in Boston, New York & Oregon while simultaneously teaching cooks of all ages, skill levels and food preferences. Lauren received an MSW from Portland State University and worked at Outside In, supporting their mission to help homeless youth and other marginalized people move towards improved health and self-sufficiency. A natural outgrowth of this work is Lauren Chandler Cooks, established in 2014, to help individuals and families grow healthier and happier through learning to cook. Often working in conjunction with clients’ health care providers, Lauren Chandler Cooks offers customized culinary instruction and chef services as well as recipe and content creation for businesses including Barre3. In addition to running her own small business, Lauren develops and teaches culinary classes to future nutritionists and naturopathic physicians at the National University of Natural Medicine and teaches public cooking classes at Bob’s Red Mill. With an emphasis on seasonal whole foods, Lauren demonstrates that you don’t have to sacrifice flavor or fun for good health.
