Daniel Raider, L.Ac.

Since 2001 my focus in acupuncture has been orthopedics and sports medicine injuries. I have helped many people to get relief where Western medicine has been unable to help or they don’t just want to take pain pills. I have completed a 2-year specialty program in orthopedics for acupuncturists and have a strong working knowledge of muscle, bone and joint structure and function. Having seen thousands of patients over this time, I have honed my skills to quickly diagnose and treat people with acute and long-term musculoskeletal pain and injuries. I layer this knowledge with a strong functional understanding of Chinese Medicine and I practice combining both Western medicine and acupuncture. This combination provides substantial relief from pain and helps people get back on track with their active lives. In some cases, even avoid surgery.
Old stuck injuries, Motor Vehicle Accidents, repetitive motion injuries, the aging body, an intense weekend workout or sports injury, a new and difficult to diagnose pain, on-the-job injuries and athletes with pain make up the focus of my practice. General neck and low back pain, tight psoas, sciatica, stiffness in a joint or muscle, radiating pain, migraines, knee pain and weakness, ankle sprains and rotator cuff/shoulder injuries are things I see and treat daily. I also treat the athlete looking to compete at a new level, the weekend warrior who may have pushed it too hard and the gym rat/pilates person /spin class cyclist/yoga student/dancer/Bootcamp nut/Barre3 goer/Crossfit peeps/Weightlifters and anything in between.
I am clear in defining a program which centers on each patient’s individual needs and goals. And, I have a strong working knowledge of how to identify and accomplish those goals in a manner which works well for the patient.
Motor Vehicle Accident patients has become a specialty of mine. Did you know that as every insured driver in Oregon has a minimum of $15,000 from their insurance company that they can spend toward treatment in the event of a Motor Vehicle Accident? And it doesn’t matter whether they are at fault or not. This is mandated by the State of Oregon for every driver or passenger in a vehicle. I have spent many hours working with doctors and consulting with lawyers in order to identify how to consistently document and build a chart which can be used as a critical piece of information if ever needed in court or in discussions with the insurance providers. I have the skills to support folks after an MVA to get back onto their feet and move forward with their lives.
Lastly, in every scenario described here, there is an emotional component accompanying the injury or pain. This is an important piece to identify and integrate into treatment. So, we also spend time talking about how you are feeling and address the pain on a mental/emotional level in our treatments.
I am on most all major insurance panels (BCBS, UHC, Pacific Source, Providence, MODA, etc) and have a lengthy list of top-notch specialist within the Western medical field and the Eastern/Naturopathic worlds that I refer my patients to if I feel they need skills/treatment modalities that I cannot provide.
I look forward to helping you move past the pain and limiting factors.
