Dr. Chloe Scheel, ND, L.Ac.
“It’s supposed to be a secret, but I’ll tell you anyway. We doctors do nothing. We only help and encourage the doctor within.” – Albert Schweitzer, M.D.
Dr. Chloe Scheel is a licensed Naturopathic Physician and Acupuncturist who graduated with a Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine and a Masters in Acupuncture from Bastyr University in Seattle, WA. Throughout graduate school, she underwent extra training in women’s health, including fertility and preconception care, and also was trained in the Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy®. In addition to women’s health, she completed extra training in gastroenterology, IV nutrient therapy, and family medicine. Immediately after school, Dr. Scheel completed a competitive post-graduate naturopathic residency at Kwan Yin Healing Arts with Dr. Ilana Gurevich, Dr. Stefani Hayes and Dr. Whitney Hayes, with a focus on gastrointestinal health, fertility and women’s health.
Dr. Scheel truly believes in the naturopathic principle, Docere, meaning “doctor as teacher,” which emphasizes the importance of patient education. Dr. Scheel has a true passion for family medicine, and enjoys working with whole families, including children, young adults, adults, and seniors to discuss healthy lifestyle recommendations in hopes of preventing the onset of disease and/or improving their quality of life.
Dr. Scheel’s practice incorporates conventional medicine, natural therapies, and traditional Chinese medicine techniques to provide the most comprehensive and evidence-based care possible. Modalities used include, but are not limited to, hydrotherapy, botanical medicine, Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy®, neural therapy, ozone therapy, nutrition counseling, pharmacotherapy, hormone replacement therapy (HRT), and other traditional Chinese medicine techniques, such as cupping, tuina, and moxa.
Outside of work, she loves to spend time with friends and family, often over a warm cup of coffee and a homemade scone. Dr. Scheel loves cooking from scratch and even attempts to use her grandmother’s recipes…which may or may not turn out, you’ll have to ask her! Originally from Wisconsin, she enjoys being active, whether it is biking to work, hiking, running, or any other outdoor activity since the weather is tolerable year-round in Oregon! In the future, she hopes to expand her practice across state lines and bring Naturopathic Medicine to her hometown of Wausau, Wisconsin.
A brief message on Naturopathic Medicine and its role in today’s healthcare from Dr. Scheel,
“My belief is that naturopathic medicine cannot, nor should it, replace conventional medicine. Rather, complementary and alternative medicine ideally would have a place parallel to conventional medicine – the two would work synergistically to ensure optimal health. My desire is to empower people to take an active role in achieving their best possible state of health, and best possible outcomes. I enjoy teaching about naturopathic medicine and how it focuses on prevention first, then treatment, and using the least invasive methods possible. Naturopathic medicine is a melting pot – it encompasses several complementary and alternative modalities in the prevention and treatment of illness. It is not a “one size fits all” form of medicine – rather, a comprehensive way of treatment that is unique to the individual.”
